The PRISMACOLOR pencils are definitely a softer lead than the POLYCHROMOS and the LYRA REMBRANDT colour pencils…this allows for more pigment transfer when you’re drawing on harder surfaces like wood. More pigment = greater coverage with the same amount of layers; allowing for a more uniform burnishing process. The colours aren’t as vibrant as the LYRAs, but you can’t have everything!

Prismacolors are my favorite pencils, but I always seem to drop them. Then, the soft lead shatters in the pencil.
