The owner of the commissioned piece I’m working on at the moment, loves butterflies π¦. Particularly Monarchs. She wanted them included in the piece.
Annnd so, I made some Monarchs. I think they turned out quite well…
Thank you! I used cheap, glossy photo-paper; alcohol inks & Copic markers. They’re double sided, so I had to draw two butterflies per final piece (mirror images of each other to match the reverse side).
Once drawn & painted, I cut them out, and then glued them together (pressed flat until dry); then I shaped the wings & coated them in glossy Modge Podge. I think, ensuring all the edges are properly coloured, and being double thickness, gives the illusion of weight.
